Investigation on the performance of solar still with thermoelectric cooling system for various cover material

In this study, an experimental investigation was performed to determine the effect of varying thermoelectric (TEC) cooling power on solar still using different cover materials. Three types materials, glass, polycarbonate (PC), and acrylic (PMMA), were studied for TEC cooled still. varied from 12 W 36 by changing applied current 2 A 4 A. The study conducted at Universiti Malaya, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia which is located 3.118?N latitude 101.656?E longitude. productivity with glass increased up 76% when used a PMMA PC covers had lower compared reference ?48% ?82%, respectively. highest energy efficiency obtained 23.6%, 2.5%, 7.2%, average maximum exergy PC, calculated be 7.04%, 0.61%, 2.13%, economic analysis revealed that lowest cost per litre achieved $ 0.042.
